AnDe's Wisdom

New

Lady Lack-Luster sits and stares
It seems the amber liquid
Dulls her mind easier now
She hides dim eyes with ragged hair
And wrinkles round her mouth
She cries in a song-like voice
Of old, of times, of place
"Beauty is not here with me,
I cannot take the shame.
My, I was once fair to see,
Again I am found plain."
A small sound to hear
It's just another old woman
The musicians have gone home now
Time is dark and morn is far
A patient one stirs a little
"My life will not interest you,
I can see it in your face
Young you are, not knowing true,
Never have left this place"
She lifts her glass
Downs it sooner
Places a napkin on her head
Silly old woman
"I am a princess and wiser too,
I fled my life for one
Fool I was for staying true,
It ended before it had begun"
Rolls his eyes
A wiser one than a silly old woman
"All women are fools; romantic sort,
Cotton in their mind
Pass me another glass of Port
Destiny will you find"
Grabs his collar
Stands him up straight
"You must let yourself grow dim,
Beauty is not an art
Nor will she be there when you begin
In a play she'd have no part"
Lady Lack-Luster leaves the bar
A wiser one is she
Never did notice the passing car
A wiser one was she
